How can you inspire your customers to improve their environmental footprint?
2 Star Certified Green Restaurant® Duke’s Inferno has implemented an innovative punch card system to incentivize customers to consume more sustainably. For every vegan or vegetarian meal that a customer orders, they get a punch on their card. After a customer fills their card, they get a discount or free meal.
Switching to more vegetarian meals can significantly cut down on the environmental impact of your customers. To make one quarter-pound burger, it takes 6.7 lbs of feed, 52.8 gallons of water, and 74.5 square feet of land (about twice the area of a queen-sized bed). Producing just one hamburger also uses enough fossil fuels to drive a small car 20 miles. More than 1/3 of raw materials and fossil fuels are used to raise animals for food. Cutting meat out even just one day a week for a year can save the same amount of emissions as driving 348 miles in a car.
