We are excited to announce the following Towson University dining halls in Towson, Maryland have earned Certified Green Restaurant® status, collectively implementing 171 sustainability steps to earn more than 885 GreenPoints™:
The Glen Dining Hall: 4 Star Certified Green Restaurant®
Newell Dining Hall: 4 Star Certified Green Restaurant®
West Village Commons Dining Hall: Certified Green Restaurant®
Each of these dining halls is significantly reducing waste by only serving food with reusable dishware and cutlery. In addition, all to-go orders are served in reusable containers with reusable utensils, with no disposable options available. Towson University is setting a fantastic sustainability example for every U.S. restaurant and food service to follow.
To further reduce waste, each dining hall recycles plastics, glass, aluminum, paper, cardboard, grease, electronics, and printer ink/toner. These dining halls also compost in front and back of house, use bulk packaging for over 80% of in-house condiments, and only provide disposable straws upon request for people with disabilities.
