Chef Soerke Peters has a simple restaurant philosophy: Create food that is fresh, flavorful and sustainable. Those ideas resonated strongly with diners on the Central Coast of California — which led to the green-leaning restaurateur to expand into Bentonville, just north of the Third Street Historic District. A leader in sustainability, Chef Soerke and life and business partner Amy Stouffer first opened Mezzaluna Pasteria & Mozzarella Bar in March of 2019 as the first Certified Green Restaurant in Pacific Grove, Calif. There he received an Ocean Hero Award from the renowned Monterey Bay Aquarium for his responsible sourcing of seafood and preserving the oceans for generations to come. Peters and Stouffer have continued that sustainability philosophy in Bentonville, becoming a certified, three-star member of the Green Restaurant Association. Chef Soerke also offers a special Blue Zone menu brimming with staple foods that promote health and longevity. In addition to fresh pasta dishes, Mezzaluna serves a variety of antipasti, along with a mozzarella bar featuring fiori di latte mozzarella, burrata and various accompaniments. Chef Soerke also creates his own gelato and sorbetto, along with several iconic Italian desserts such as affogato and a special bourbon barrel stout float. Open for dinner Tuesday through Saturday, Mezzaluna in Bentonville is at 215 NW A St., Suite 140. Phone: 479-520-8435.
