ENERGY
EFFICIENCY
Restaurants are the largest
consumer of electricity in the commercial sector. The goal of this section is to encourage
foodservice facilities to move toward the goal of becoming carbon-neutral and
using only sustainable sources of energy.
This is achieved through using more energy-efficient equipment,
offsetting energy usage, and generating on-site renewable clean sources of
energy.
Points are awarded based on the
percentage of items that meet each criterion.
Points
are only awarded for the highest standard met.
